SCARR is an organized, off-road event geared towards Land Rover enthusiasts. It begins at 9am on Thursday and wraps up Sunday morning. Our event attracts people from all parts of the country and globe who love to experience the off-road capabilities of their Land Rovers in the great outdoors. Each year, SCARR attendees forge lifelong memories with friends, family, and sponsors. Join us this year as we celebrate the 17th Anniversary of SCARR!
The driver's registration fee includes entrance into the Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area, primitive camping, a SCARR goodie bag with t-shirt, 1 grand prize raffle ticket, 10 general raffle tickets, and 1 delicious catered meal on Saturday evening. It also includes access to all of our SCARR activities throughout the week, along with our highly-anticipated Saturday night raffle. SCARR is an exciting event for any Land Rover enthusiast.
Activities abound at SCARR! Each year we host activities including guided trail runs, lectures and off-road training, the Barbara Toy Run - a ladies' trail run, kids' activities (such as the RC Time Challenge and movie night), and more. There truly is something for everyone at SCARR!
Event schedule and additional information will be provided at later date. Please email if you have any questions about SCARR.
***Please note that SCARR is an exclusive Land Rover event. Therefore, only attendees driving Land Rovers will be allowed to run the trails. Members may bring non-Land Rover vehicles for towing, camping, and running back and forth on the property’s main access road. They will NOT be allowed to participate in the trail runs or group photos. ATVs or dirt bikes are NOT permitted at SCARR. This is due to the fact that our special event liability insurance covers SCARR as a Land Rover event and does not include ATVs, dirt bikes, or any other full-sized vehicles other than Land Rovers.***
SCARR Event Location Details
Texas Rovers has reserved the entire Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area in Gilmer, Texas - a beautiful 1,850-acre premier off-road park. This year's SCARR event will be closed to the public. By doing this, we are able to make use of the entire park to provide a wide variety of entertaining activities and ample room to camp! BMRA offers primitive and electric camping sites as well as shower and bathroom facilities located near the front of the park. Attendees should also familiarize themselves with the park's regulations: Barnwell Mountains Safety Regulations.

Be sure to watch for the turn off because it is at the crest of the hill. You will miss it if you are not paying attention. This sign is directly across the highway from the entrance. Turn right, check in at the gate, and proceed up the hill to the office where you will finish the check-in process.
Primitive camping is included in your SCARR registration fee. Camp Mabey is the main campsite. Follow the signs back to the camp - it’s about a 10-minute drive. Old Camp will be another established campsite where the Fun Zone will reside for the week. There are several other areas and campsites scattered around the park that attendees are welcome to take advantage of. Whatever campsite you choose to use, please be respectful and make sure to leave it cleaner than you found it.
RV’s are welcome at SCARR. There are Premium Sites (water and electric) and additional (electric only) spots located across from the Premium Sites. A dump station is available for anyone to use at no charge. RV Premium and Electric Sites are NOT included in your SCARR registration fee.
